The main cast of Netflix’s upcoming Korean series The Dealer—Jung So-min, Ryoo Seung-bum, Lee Soo-hyuk, and Ryu Kyung-soo—has been revealed. The Dealer is a crime drama series that centers on Geonhwa, a talented casino dealer whose wedding plans abruptly go wrong. In order to properly walk down the aisle, she must use her long-hidden abilities and enter the risky world of gambling.
As Jung Geonhwa, the incredibly varied Jung So-min (Love Reset, Alchemy of Souls, Love Next Door, Would You Marry Me?) shows audiences yet another aspect of herself. Geonhwa, an incredibly skilled and seasoned dealer who has spent a life far distant from the vices of the casino floor, sees her life turned upside down when her married plans are derailed by a housing fraud. She is compelled to enter the underworld she has avoided, and she tests the limits of her abilities.
As Hwang Chisu, Ryoo Seung-bum (Good News, Tazza: One Eyed Jack, The Berlin File) delivers a distinctive performance. Chisu, who is struggling to make ends meet, uses whatever money he can find in casinos to gamble. That is, until he joins Geonhwa’s risky scheme.
Jo Jun, the casino player who flips the script, is played by Lee Soo-hyuk (S Line, Queen Woo), who joins the cast. Jun rules the gambling tables with razor-sharp skills and an unbreakable poker face, escalating the tension at every round.
Choi Wooseung, a detective and Geonhwa’s fiancé, is played by Ryu Kyung-soo (The Bequeathed, JUNG_E, YADANG: The Snitch). While Wooseung is kind and kind with Geonhwa, he exhibits a completely different side at work: a relentless detective who never allows a suspect to escape.
Choi Young-hwan, the celebrated cinematographer behind numerous blockbusters like Smugglers, Veteran, Tazza: The High Rollers, and The Thieves, makes his directorial debut with The Dealer. Choi, who has received widespread recognition for his dynamic visuals that enhance genre storytelling, is poised to bring the splendor, suspense, and charm of the casino industry to life. He is joined by Firstman Studio, the production business responsible for the worldwide success of Squid Game, and Hwang Dong-hyuk, the director of Squid Game, who joins as producer to complete an outstanding veteran team.
The Dealer, which will debut only on Netflix, will have a unique cast and be supported by a group of seasoned producers.
